Marc Cox once again powered his way to victory at another chilly early season time trial as riders battled the strong north-westerly crosswind that was still pushing spray over the sea wall at Vazon and Rocque Poisson, despite the high tide receding an hour before the start.
His time of 31:27 for the 15 mile course was over 2 minutes clear of second placed Aaron Bailey, who claimed an O50 course record of 33:31, and was well clear of third placed Alex Margison who clocked 35:31, whilst his expected challenger Alex Van Katwyk suffered an unfortunate mechanical off the start line.
Jamy Petit-Fulgoni was first and only lady finisher in 39:21 as many opted to DNS given the conditions, and James Roe and Mike Serafin won the battle of the road bike ‘two-ups’ in 35:39, ahead of Matt Osborn and Josh Saunders in 35:48 and Mark de la Mare and James Shorto in 39:37.
Remi Le Compte won the junior 10 mile race held alongside the senior race in a time of 34:21, ahead of Bailey Smalldon in 34:48, whilst Holly Smith took bragging rights in the girls race as she beat sister Amy with a time of 36:11, which was good enough for third overall.
