The Tiered System Explained -

This Tiered system will allow Riders to move between the different tiers dependant on how much time and commitment can be given.

The important factor being they still remain part of the Academy

The focus for the Sure GVC Junior Academy riders is to develop the skills, strategies and fitness required to cope with the demands of racing. More importantly, however, it prepares for future success as a senior rider.

Tier One -

Fast, strong and skilful bike riders

Excellent performances both at Local & national races

Self-discipline, commitment and a strong work ethic

A willingness to develop

An open mind to advice and coaching

What will you learn?

Skills and race tactics required to be an competitive bike rider – now and for the future

The physical aspects required to improve performance – speed, strength, stamina and power

An ability to handle different racing conditions and training environments without affecting performance

Ownership along with the fundamental off-bike skills required for success at a senior level.

How is it done?

Expert coaching support focusing on discipline specific skills supported by the staff and coaches of the GVC.

Creation of an ‘Individualised training Plan’ for chosen rider events delivered via Training Peaks (this can be offered By Development officer or nominated coach

Provision of a structured race programme designed to be challenging and aspirational

Support and education from GVC Coaches (If Rider has own Coach this can still be implied)

Careful monitoring and management of workloads around education and other commitments

Full Funding will consist of GVC Academy sponsored kit. Should the Rider wish to drop out of the Academy all clothing to be returned back to the club

Funding will also be available towards racing off Island

Tier Two –

For riders that seek no real training commitment outside what they currently do. This maybe down to other sports but these riders will likely race on Island with the odd 1-2 National Races per season. Part funding would be available and any Kit also part funded.

NOTE IF RIDER DISPLAYED A DIFFERENT APPROACH DURING SEASON AND WANTED TO COMMIT MORE TO TRAINING/RACING. AN APPLICATION TO TIER ONE CAN STILL BE MADE by emailing paul@gvc.gg (Paul De Garis - Head Coach)

Tier Three –

For riders quite happily to come along to races but seek no training commitment outside what they do. These riders will likely race on Island for fun.

RIDERS DO HAVE OPTION TO MOVE INTO TIER 2 SHOULD TRAINING AND RACING COMMITMENT CHANGE.
