MTB Tour of Guernsey

MTB TOG '21

As it's the 25th anniversary of the Mountain Bike Tour of Guernsey, it's only appropriate that we pay homage to the bikes and riders of that era.

Whilst there isn't a separate category for riders on retro bikes this year, there will be an advantage given to those riders, in the form of a points deduction, with examples below. There is even a special trophy for the highest placed rider on a retro bike!

Timing will all be done electronically, using timing chips from the club's 2 systems, so make sure you enter your chip details below (mark n/a if you don't have one and you'll be assigned one for the week).

Don't forget the presentation meal at the Last Post on Sunday 11 July, included in the entry price.

Stage 4 is an interesting mix of Gravel riding, XC and Tarmac. The course below is a rough guide and may change but each lap will be around 2 miles.  Older more rigid bikes might have a bit more of an advantage on the gravel/tarmac sections. The roads will be closed and there is a 2 way section that everyone will need to KEEP RIGHT on.

There will be 3 races of varying duration, but expect Race 2 & 3 to be about 20minutes and 30 minutes.

Sign on and transponder check at 6pm at the Last Post, Podium at 6.30 first riders off at 6.45. Start order is the same as DH

DONT FORGET YOUR LIGHTS AND WRIST BAND TIMING CHIP

We turn the lights off so you have to bring your own.

Starting in the Last Post car park, we drop down the start ramp into the singletrack and then around the fields familiar to those who have ridden one of the club's XC races. There's then a twisty ramp off the back of Dan T's pick up truck into the dark and eery silence of the Underground Hospital, where the only noise is the hum of your tyres on the concrete and the ghostly echoes of the past......and you'll probably hear John rabbiting away as well.

Make sure your lights are on before you start as the tunnel lights will be off and don't get lost......

Stage 6 - The XC

It's a long course and has a surprising amount of elevation gain, this is last years map, but we maybe adding some more sections.

The meeting point is the car park by the L'ancresse Kiosk (not the Beachhouse) the start is on the common itself.

There will be a couple of technical rocky sections but there will be an easier but slower alternative route for these.

There will be 2 races

Race 1 - U12 & U10 on a shorter course

Race 2 - Sport, U14's

Race 3 - Expert, Senior and Vets

Expect Race 2 to be about 45-60 minutes and race 3 to be 60-90 Minutes.
